Kaplan Sanders, PhD, CFP®

Dr. Kaplan Sanders, CFP®, is an Assistant Professor of Finance and the Finance Program Director at Utah Tech University. He holds a Ph.D. in Personal Financial Planning from Texas Tech University and an M.S. in Finance and Economics from West Texas A&M University. A Certified Financial Planner™ professional, Dr. Sanders’ research focuses on financial literacy, debt behavior, and physician financial well-being. His work has been published in such journals as the Financial Services Review, the Financial Planning Research Journal, and the Journal of the American Board of Family Medicine. He also serves as Associate Editor for the Journal of Financial Therapy and is on the Editorial Board for the Journal of Financial Counseling and Planning.

Outside the classroom, he is passionate about financial literacy outreach, mentoring students (particularly those pursuing the CFP® certification), and collaborating with community programs to strengthen financial well-being.
